Ship Movement
There are currently Three types of movement/engines in Pulsar4X
- Newtonion movement.
- NonNewtonion translation.
- Gate/Between system jumps.
This is your typical newtonion thrust. as of this writing the mechanic is not fully fleshed out, but eventually you should be able to do full Hohmann Transfers using these types of engines.
"Alcubierre drive", "Hyperspace" or "Warp". This is movement within a star system to get from one planet to another quickly. The moment your ship starts it's Alcuberre translation, it's newtonion velocity is stored, when it's translation ends, it gets its newtonion velocity back, and goes into an orbit at its new location. The new orbit may or may not be a full kepler elliptical orbit. if you're moving too fast, you'll go into a hyperbolic trajectory and end up in an orbit around the target objects parent. (ie if your exit velocity is too fast for an elliptical orbit around mars, you'll end up in an orbit around the sun instead)
Currently this type of travel is not completed, but will allow you to jump from one system to another from specified points in the star system.
