Python 3.x has been out for ~8 years and most recent libraries are available only in 3.x support (see the official Python2orPython3), but the master branch is broken at least on Python 3.5. Therefore it is time to update the code base so that people on current platforms (e.g., those in most of the research institutes) could benefit. I've tested the fork and it works like a charm. Please consider merging. Will be glad to discuss any issue and concern you may have.
