The git-log command does not have a --no-pager option, so send things through
the cat(1) command to suppress the paging when there a lots of commits to
display.

Originally, this tool didn't fuss if these files were the only thing out of
date. However, this has allowed some merge conflicts to appear.

Let's toss this PR, and the branch, and we'll start this one from the beginning after we fix the other repos.
