Passwords, keys and secrets for encryption or security purposes should not be stored in the git repository.
Please use the "settings" table, to store a key and value pair. Superadmins can change these on the /settings page.
To retrieve the value, use @db_settings["key as string"], whilst in a controller. It is defined in the application controller, so other controllers, and views have access to the @db_settings variable.
