About The Pull Request

  • Based on Shield belts BeeStation/BeeStation-Hornet#11821 taking its item sprites/visual looks
  • Added shieldbelts
  • Turned the grayscale block effect into actual grayscale (its literally used in 1 place in the code, and that place specifies a color for it, what)

Why It's Good For The Game

It gives a good way for people who use melee to close distances against opponents who use ranged weaponry
It has the following statistics:
120 shield health
Recharges 2 health every second, as long as its shield is not broken
If its shield is broken it takes 60 seconds to start recharging, EMP resets the timer
If you have it on, you will block any ranged projectiles but wont be able to shoot any weapons yourself

To obtain it you need to research a brand new node that takes 1000 generic research, locked behind advanced weapons and anomaly reserach, then print it using iron/titanium/uranium and add in a flux core to finish it off.

There's also archotech shield belts that have 450% the shield capacity, do not accept a flux core and cannot recharge. Admin-only

Changelog

🆑
add: A new item -- the shield belt, it blocks all incoming and outgoing ranged projectiles. Build one at a local science protolathe with a flux core to power it... NOW!
