PUGH CHART

Sl No. Objectives
01 Robot should be semi-automatic.
02 Robot hits the striker at different angles
03 Robot is attached to one side of the board
04 Robot manufactured should be of low cost

Weights assigned to prioritized objectives

The Best Concept selected is: Design Idea 3

Justifications:

Design Idea 1

Objective Score given Justification
semi automatic DATUM this design is semi automatic as all the functions are controlled by keypad
strike at different angles DATUM the robot uses a low rpm dc motor to change direction of striker
attaches to side of board DATUM the bot is mounted on a linear slider mechanism on one side of the board
cost DATUM the bot is of average cost as sliders and structure are made up of metal and are costly than plastic structure

Design Idea 2

Objective Score given Justification
semi automatic 0 equally semi automated as that of Datum
strike at different angles + is better than datum it uses servo motor to change the angle
attached to side of board - The bot is not fixed to side of board as it has wheels for movement
cost + cheaper than datum as it uses spring mechanism to strike the striker

Design Idea 3

Objective Score given Justification
semi automatic 0 equally semiautomatic as that of datum
strikes at different angles + the bot changes direction more efficiently than datum due to its flexible plastic structure
attached to side of board - is not attached to side of board as it has wheels for movement
cost ++ cheaper then all the other designs as it uses a plastic structure and DC motors for controlling movement and striking

Design Idea 4

Objective Score given Justification
semi automatic 0 it is equally automated as datum
strikes at different angles + uses servo motor so better than datum which uses DC motor
attaches to side of board ++ uses rack and pinion which is attached to one side of board and offers greater movement than datum
cost -- costlier than datum as it uses a robotic clip which is costlier than any other mechanism
