if anyone is interested, you can also remove the link overlays in windows (i wanted first to suggest this as workaround):
https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page/remove_shortcut_arrow_icon.html

but it doesn't need that as a workaround. New option 'Show link overlay' default false works very well
