Thank you for this very detailed submission @greeNsort - we will review it in the upcoming meeting and perhaps @seanmcilroy29 once we have done that we could invite @greeNsort to share their findings as an invited contributor if they are not already a part of the GSF? |

Jens, your input is well thought and I think it's very useful. There are some aspects about your case that make it special. I think that
Your viewpoints are absolutely valid in my opinion and we should take them very seriously. At the same time, we want to include other scenarios, so we need to be aware that some aspects of your conclusions might not be suitable from a more general perspective. Here comes more specific feedback from me. (This is my viewpoint only, just an input for further discussion.) Measuring Units: I do think that we haven't reached a final understanding of the usage-units R. Some aspects here:
Measuring Energy Location-Based carbon emissions I agree that we should discuss your questions. (Discuss them again, it's not as if we haven't been done that a few times.) I would like to add something I brought up in a different discussion: There a two points of view here, depending on what you want to achieve with the SCI:
Sorry, I need to attend a meeting now. Hopefully, I will have time later or tomorrow to add more feedback. |

Was my pleasure. Unfortunately I was today busy in calls of my regular job.
Please let me know in advance if you want me to participate again.
Kind regards

Thank you for the very detailed and well thought our response @ElmarBorgmeier[https://github.com/ElmarBorgmeier] - let's discuss this further in the call today.

@seanmcilroy29 will send out a recording of the WG call with this discussion and a link to the presentation for the broader SWG to review and then we will have a detailed discussion on the points that were raised. |

@atg-abhishek - I've checked and it looks like the recording was deleted as the 7 days had elapsed. |

@atg-abhishek - I've retrieved the recording - link available via Standards WG GSF G-Drive doc |

WG: This conversation is more focused on algorithms. The SCI is more focused on measuring the impact of comprehensive software. Challenge: many developers don't know things about their software (for example, what hardware the future software will run on). Does the WG have a position on what should be done in that situation. |

Please find here a detailed suggestion for pragmatic enhancement of the SCI. The core point I make is that the SCI - although formally correct - requires information that is not available to software developers (which hardware is used for how long etc.) and often is not relevant for the 'greenness' of software (local energy/CO2 ratio). I show pragmatic alternatives that work for developers and that have been proven useful in the greeNsort project. If you like, I happily explain my view face-to-face in a video-session. Looking forward to talking about this and integrating it into the GSF SCI.
Best
Jens
