How to translate the Open Cities Guide website.

This project uses Transifex to localize their content. If you want to contribute to translations you have to do the following:

  1. Go to the Transifex project page.
  2. If you already signed in to Transifex you will access the Open Cities Guide project dashboard. Otherwise click on the button "Help translate Open Cities Guide" and then sign in.
  3. In the project dashboard click on the "Translate" button.
  4. Select a language to get started.
  5. Select the resource you want to translate.
  6. Select the string you want to translate.

The Open Cities Guide pages are written in Markdown therefore some strings might include some markup language. To keep the markup in the translation box you can click on "Copy source string (Ctrl+g)" and then edit the part to be translated only. You can also open the "Editor Preferences" and "Enable raw editor mode".

For the complete documentation you can check the Transifex website.

Images

Images with a translation must be referenced in Transifex by adding the code language before the file extension. For example, the Open Cities Process Diagram French version must be renamed from the English version
