@dr0cloud will soon be doing something like #3 but to the Chou-Suarez code. And his life will be easier if all the old CUDA code is removed.

Frankly, if we ever want to GPU-ize CS, people like @gmao-ckung or @pchakraborty could do it better with OpenACC now anyway probably!
