* Implement main() functionality * Eliminate updatable global variable usage * Replace single character function, shared variable use with reasonable names * Replace redirection of stdout, diagnostic output is no longer mixed with output * Add verbosity flag to control diagnostic output * Add as much documentation as I can figure out * Remove useless debugging code * Remove commented code and dead white space The code remains undocumented in some places and is not yet PEP 8 compliant.
