Hi @Google-Docs_devs,

I have created this Pull Request because I have resolved this request for a Chocolatey package and now, we can install unofficial-google-docs-client using Chocolatey.

For now, only the latest version (2022.6.1) is available on Chocolatey. When new versions will be released, they will, then, be added to the Chocolatey package for users to enjoy. 🙂

Adds the Chocolatey package in the list of possibilities to install the Google Docs Desktop app.

Actually, I have changed my branding (Name & Domain) so can you share the steps and config to publish my Google Docs package to Chocolatey and should make it official now. You can share your experience at [email protected]. Help would be appreciated.

I just saw how you published it to Chocolatey. I request you to remove your package from Chocolatey so that I can publish mine.

Hi @RudraSen2 🙂

If you want, I can add you as a maintainer of the package I have been maintaining, in order to take over the package, so that user will just have to update in order to have access to the future version you will be releasing.

And if you want to create a package (with a new name), I can add a link to it so that users can easily find the new one. 🙂

But I wanted to create a new package without the client and unofficial in the name and there cannot be two packages because the Chocolatey people check for another package with the same name. I found this - https://docs.chocolatey.org/en-us/community-repository/maintainers/deprecate-a-chocolatey-package. Check if this can be done

If I understand correctly, you can create the new package with the new name (without the client and the unofficial), and once it is created, all I will have to do is to add the mention DEPRECATED on the title of the package I maintain, update the description to link to the new one, and follow the rest of the instructions mentioned in the documentation you found.

Yes, it would be really appreciated if you do that. And can you tell me how this is used - https://github.com/Xav83/chocolatey-packages/tree/develop/automatic/unofficial-google-docs-client

I don't understand the option that you want ^ ^
Do you want me to only add you as a maintainer of the Chocolatey package ? Or have you created a new package and want me to mark this Chocolatey package as deprecated with a link to the new one ?

I guess you're busy so add me as a maintainer and I'll deprecate the package and do the rest. I'll reach out to you for any help needed. And please tell me is this required in any way and how - https://github.com/Xav83/chocolatey-packages/tree/develop/automatic/unofficial-google-docs-client
