Scaling tests
Experiments were run on ECMWF with the barbados-space-time settings. Number of LES increased from 4 to 94 with size of single LES of 64x64x200 cells. Each LES was running on 4 cores.OpenIFS was running on 16 cores and coupler on 1. The following times were measured:
- total time - total time of the run including 1 step of spinup and 5 steps of openIFS.
- gcm walltime 1 - first half-step of gcm,
- gather gcm data,
- set les forcing,
- les walltime,
- set gcm tendencies,
- gcm walltime 2 - second half-step of gcm.
All calculated times except les walltime were averaged over 5 timesteps. For the last one the fastest and slowest les were selected for the plot.
