Seems good, I don't think the fail is related (its about vehicles, ramps and furniture on open air). Also pinging @Light-Wave as this touches on Innawoods. |
Finally a scutcher. |
Don't worry about adjusting this PR, but in the future please separate vanilla and mod changes into different PRs. |
Noted, will do. |
Good to go then I guess? |
Build failure is vcpkg-related. |
Summary
Content "Adds a few new low-tech weapons and tools"
Purpose of change
More bronze weapons and expanded throwing weapons. Adds a scutching construction for bulk crafting plant fibre and associated recipe. More items for Innawoods.
Describe the solution
Adds war darts/fletched javelins (steel and bronze) and weighted darts/plumbatae as weapons for mainline. The war darts are basically giant arrows, with broad tips that are thrown so do cutting damage. Plumbatae are the angrier ancestor to lawn darts.
Also makes yoke and harness + steel pike autolearn for Innawood as well as adding primitive bandages from birchbark (and garlic salve) plus bill/brush axe (bronze) as a bronze polearm. It doesn't need to be, but bronze doesn't have a weapon for that niche.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Having everything Innawoods only.
Testing
Threw self repeatedly into raspberry bushes, stopped bleeding with new bandages. Threw new throwing weapons at spawned zombies, missed alot but reasonable damage. Weighted darts might be a bit high though (was getting 25-30 dmg). Autolearned recipes were available and crafted. Used new scutcher to bulk craft plant fibre. Hit stuff with brush axe. Nasty vs unarmored, not so great vs armoured.
Additional context
Originally, everything actually was going to be Innawoods only, but some of this stuff looked reasonable enough for mainline.
War dart and plumbatae stats were roughly based on Tod's workshop videos on Youtube about them.
The war darts took some messing with stats to get the range right (about 18 tiles). Otherwise they're based on in-game iron javelins. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJotBsrqbwI
Weighted darts were given some bash to account for the lead weight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfgMfSZiQSU
There's a bunch of claims about birchbark and healing but I choose to doubt. So they're based on makeshift bandages. The salved versions are using 'farmer's salve' or whatever the equivalent. Garlic does have healing properties, but erring on the side of caution they're equal to bleached/boiled makeshift. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31490311/
