Trying to roleplay someone drunk or with kaluptic psychosis can be really fun but the hallucinations that follow these playstyles are very disruptive and doesn't even feel realistic. You can hallucinate multiple times of the day and they last for hours, it reaches a point that i rather turn off the distractions just so i avoid getting interrupted every minute through 70% of the day.
Solution you would like.
I used to have a parent who were a strong alcoholic and while he hallucinated every now and then it didn't last more than a few minutes and he used to quickly snap out of it. So it makes sense to me that it happens more sparsely and rarely. Maybe like once every 1 ~ 2 days and in a wayyyyy shorter period of time, like 1 minute tops. Or the effect only trigger few times a day, like 3 ~ or so monsters total. Doing this way would actually trick the player that something is out there to get them rather than just being a total annoyance.
I have noticed that immobile creatures like the partially harvest mi go tend to stick around even when the hallucination disappear. Can't tell if that's intended or not
