Typed emojis disappear while scaling

Steps to reproduce:

1. Type text and select an emoji from the keyboard
2. Pinch to scaled the text
3. emoji disappears while scaling

Note - tested this with both #49 and #55, and it doesn't fix the issue :/. This is what I see in the logs:

It does however show the emoji all good until zoomed in "too much" and these log entries appear (and the emoji doesn't get rendered)
