Hello there! My name is Andrew Vreeland, and I'm a software developer with experience in full-stack JS and Java. Before transitioning to software development, I served for 8 years in the Marine Corps and Air Force, where I honed my troubleshooting skills and developed a strong attention to detail.
After being injured during my service, I decided to pursue my passion for technology and enrolled in an online coding bootcamp with Code Fellows. Despite the time difference between my home in Florida and Code Fellows' base in Washington state, I'm committed to dedicating nearly 50 hours per week to studying and improving my skills.
One of my proudest achievements so far is a full-stack app that provides a weekly forecast, a map, and top movies for any city based on user input. This project required me to utilize multiple APIs, React, Bootstrap, and an active server to create a functional front-end and back-end.
As a developer, I thrive on solving complex problems and creating software that users find valuable and enjoyable. I'm equally comfortable working on my own or as part of a diverse team, and I'm always eager to learn new skills and approaches to improve my craft.
In my military experience, I had the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, which has given me a unique perspective that I bring to my work as a developer. I believe that my leadership abilities, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills make me a competitive candidate for any development team.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in software development, I encourage you to explore the many free resources available online to gain a deeper understanding of the field. And if you're a veteran like me, know that there are resources available through Veterans Affairs that can help you succeed in this field.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. Please feel free to connect with me on Github or LinkedIn to discuss development, military life, or anything in between!
