This idea was raised by Tim here #798
I don't think it has been implemented but i think it is still worth considering. If it was done I would suggest it needs to happen inside the interface (ie not an external video) and also forcefully presented to the user (with an option to skip).

Oh, and it is related to the onboarding experience here discussed here:

This I think is relevant for us more than ever now because And Bible can do so much!

Efficient Onboarding

The goal of onboarding is to show the value of your app to the user, by demonstrating how they can achieve what they want, quickly and efficiently. If the user is having trouble within the first few screens, they’ll likely drop off without hesitation. Delivering an excellent onboarding experience is the foundation for attracting and retaining users. Within the first week of downloading an app user retention already drops by 25 percent; however, Localytics observed that where efficient onboarding was implemented, an increase of 50 percent in-app user retention was noticed.

There are many strategies you can integrate to maximize the mobile UX during the onboarding phase to encourage users to come back time after time, such as a tutorial to show the user how the app works. This is progressive onboarding, ideally used if your app has a complex workflow or hidden functionalities that the user may not be aware of right away. Great user onboarding not only lowers abandonment rates but can also help boost long-term success metrics like user retention and user lifetime value.

In 4.0 we'll get this screen after update and after also fresh install (notice that beta version has different message, this is when stable comes out):

It's a good start. I think I am tasked with making that video aren't I?

I tend to not go off to watch a video or even look at the help in a new app. I always think i can work out myself. An in-app onboarding process might be good one day.

Yes :-)

Yes. Though I think I would go to watch video of an app that I really use a lot and want to be able to use it powerful way.

I love this idea! As I have mentioned before, I am tech challenged, & there are a lot of us out here that are. A tutorial video would be great.

I advertise AB all the time as the best user friendly bible app out there. One of the most common questions I get from new users is; "I've lost my taskbar at the top of the app, how do I get it back?" People including myself when first using AB inadvertently double click a window, not realizing it, Taskbar disappears & they don't know how to make the taskbar reappear. Thanks!
