Scientist: Alan Turing

1. Alan Turing was a great mathematician and cryptographer. He was the one responsible not only for the breaking of the Nazi Enigma Code, but also for the creation of the modern computer.
2. Turing took his own life in 1954, 2 years after being publicly announced that he was gay. During that time in Great Britain gay was illegal and forbidden. No one at the time knew of Turing's contributions to the war. 60 years late Queen Elizabeth II pardoned Turing.
3. In school he consistently received bad grades, even in mathematics and science. Yet he found his spot in history and having a large contribution in the end of WWII.
