Summary
I propose to improve the artwork browser in Kodi to provide better management of artwork sources (TMDB and FanartTV) and available languages when manually selecting.
Context
Currently, Kodi limits the display of artwork based on the language set in the scrapper settings, favoring the main language, then the fallback language (English). This approach often restricts access to English-language artwork (especially those from TMDB), even when those in the main language are not of good quality. In addition, the Kodi interface does not differentiate artwork by source (TMDB or FanartTV), which complicates understanding and manual selection of artwork. Not to mention that the pixel resolution of the artwork is not reported either.
Suggestion for improvement:
Tabs or sections by language
Add tabs or sections in the artwork browser to freely switch between preferred and fallback languages. This would ensure direct access to artwork available in French and English, regardless of initial scraping preferences.
Artwork Source Display (TMDB / FanartTV)
Clearly display the source of each artwork, with an indicator or filter to choose between TMDB and FanartTV. This option would allow for a better visualization of the origin of each artwork and more precise control when manually selecting.
Expected Benefits
These features would provide users with greater flexibility in choosing artwork, better meet multilingual needs, and improve control over image sources and quality.
Thank you very much for your attention to this enhancement request, and thank you for all the work already done on Kodi!
