On both my Samsung Galaxy S7 (Android 8) and my Huawei Media Pad M5 (Android 9), prim-ftpd is missing the top bar of the UI that is supposed to have the cogwheel icon to open the configuration and the play-button to start the server. Without these, the app is useless. I tried both recent versions from Google Play and from F-Droid.

This is how it looks:

There is an alternative way to open preferences. Long touch the app icon in launcher. That opens the shortcuts menu which provides access to some activities of the app. In Preferences you can switch to dark or light theme which should solve your issue.

Opening the preferences menu through the shortcuts immediately crashes the app on both my devices. Starting the the server through the shortcuts menu tells me I need to set credentials first but that is impossible because I can't get into the preferences menu.

When selecting television mode in the shortcuts menu, I can see a menu at the top of the app. However, clicking on preferences there also crashes the app.

I downgraded to 6.15 and the UI is good there. However, the old version has this Bug #293 which is a bit annoying.

I got the same problem, I think. Made a PR to fix issues I've found: #306

Hi, just reporting, it seems that I have this same problem with version 6.16 from F-Droid on Android 7.1.1 (on an LG-Q6 phone).

There is an alternative way to open preferences. Long touch the app icon in launcher. That opens the shortcuts menu which provides access to some activities of the app.

I don't have that option/behaviour.

I uninstalled version 6.16 and installed instead version 6.15, and the GUI seems OK now. Gonna try it a little and report if needed.

Is there some workaround to make 6.16 work fine?
Should I just stick with 6.15 and wait for 6.17?

Thanks a lot in advance. Please let me know if there's something I could add to help fix this.
And thanks a lot for the app, I've found it awesome!
Kind regards.

It has already been fixed by #306.
In meantime snapshot builds are provided through GitHub Packages, you may download such a build to get a preview of 6.17.

Is this the same issue? On my device (Samsung Galaxy s10e) the action bar is visible but extremely ugly when the theme is set to "system default". Changing to "light" or "dark" seems to fix the issue
