Hello.
I would like to install the RealRTCW mod on the RTCW GOG version. I use Ubuntu and i play native the game(no wine involved). I don't know the steps how to compile the mod. Ubuntu 24.04 as O.S.
I would appreciate your help.
I installed the game following this instructions from reddit:
Since the topic is polluted with WINE/Lutris fanboys who doesn't even know there exists a native source port for the game, let me point main steps for modern, native installation:
@nepo1234 I haven't tried Ubuntu in particular. However, provided you have all build tools in place (likely you'll want the Debian/Ubuntu build-essential and make packages at a minimum; plus git to clone) you can simply run make. From what I saw most of the dependencies are in-tree, so it's not really much of a problem to get it to build.
Of course other issues (e.g. like the one I encountered #125) may exist. But generally iortcw and also RealRTCW seem to build fine with merely the use of make (seemingly this implies GNU make).
If you want to speed it up you can instead use make -j $(nproc) to use as many jobs in parallel as you have (logical) CPUs.

Create a game folder on your home directory.
$ cd ~ && mkdir rtcw && cd ~/rtcw
Download the game to newly created ~/rtcw folder.
Install innoextract:
$ sudo apt update && sudo apt install innoextract
Unpack the game with lowercase option:
$ innoextract --exclude-temp --lowercase *.exe
Download and extract latest x86_64 Linux archive of iortcw to ~/rtcw:
https://github.com/iortcw/iortcw/releases
Merge extracted iortcw folder with ~/rtcw/app
Launch the game:
LC_ALL=C ./iowolfsp.x86_64
Thank you!
