- Reach First Public Working Draft of a specification for SPC by end of August 2021
- Ship SPC in Chromium by end of October 2021
- Describe and prioritize user stories.
- Establish a feature scope for SPC and prioritize features to appear in a FPWD. Note: subsequent drafts may include different features depending on ongoing WG discussion.
- Develop an API specification (whether part of Payment Request API or a separate API).
- Develop corresponding tests
- Take into account experiences from pilots
- Ship code in Chromium
Notes:
- Some work will be done in parallel:
- Spec work is likely to begin while requirements are still in development; we will align work as we go
- Coding is likely to be happening in parallel with everything else
- Mid-May: Identify editing and test suite development resources
- Mid-May: Finalize initial list of user stories. Prioritize them.
- Late May: Stabilize scope.
- Early June: Re-Publish Payment Request API 1.0 as a CR
- Early June: First draft of requirements.
- Late June: First sketch of API
- Early July: Understand which issues need to be addressed before FPWD and which should be highlighted for review in FPWD.
- Mid-July: Publish Payment Request API 1.0 as a PR
- Late July: Call for Consensus to WPWG to publish SPC FPWD
- Mid August: Publish FPWD of API
- Late August: Publish Payment Request API 1.0 as a Recommendation
- Late August: Begin rechartering process for WPWG (WG review of revised charter)
- Late August: Announce intent to ship support for SPC in Chromium
- Early September: Request reviews of charter (e.g., from Horizontal groups and W3C Management)
- Mid-September: Second Origin Trial ends
- Early October: Start W3C Membership review of charter
- 18-29 October: TPAC 2021
- Mid-to-Late October: Release date of Chromium with SPC support
- Mid-November: Announce renewed charter
