Create custom firmware that we can flash to VxScan to get a password and all of our default settings, which would allow a box builder to simply install the firmware version without knowledge of any passwords and with less configuration.

Aptio has a bunch of utilties and one of them is the BIOS Configuration Program which seemingly would let us customize a ROM version of our BIOS. Open questions:

  • How do we get a ROM version?
  • How do we get this tool? It's not on AMI's website and, while there are download links online, they are sketchy looking.
  • Does this allow doing all the settings we're interested in?
  • Does it work with our specific flavor of Aptio BIOS?
