It is a great application for what it is built for. I understand that the app is trying to resemble the hacker news portal, but are there any plans/thoughts on possibly updating the UI to make it look more modern?

You said it correctly. Since this was built for educational and learning purposes, I didn't invest much time in the UI part and copied over the HN website look and feel. I am planning to work more on the UI part (like better comment tree navigation, gestures, etc.) and port it to KMP as well to experiment with different KMP configurations. Please feel free to improve.
