What benefits would this bring?

• Would users be able to have associate multiple mxids with their mxid?
• How would we verify their ownership of these 3pid mxids?
• Would they still have to log out and log in to each mxid to speak as that mxid?

The idea is that i could tell the IS to resolve @matthew:openmarket.com to @matthew:matrix.org or something. Verifying the original MXID would have to be done by proving that you control it to the IS; unsure how. You wouldn't be logging out & in again, just maintaining a master account but routing other ones into it so that people inviting you on an old MXID would be able to find the new one.
