Work Zone Data Working Group Collaboration

Announcements

  • The Work Zone Data Working Group held its second and final meeting of the year on November 2, 2021. Slides, recording, and minutes of the meeting are now available.
  • The Work Zone Data Working Group held its first meeting of the year on March 16, 2021. The purpose of this meeting was to update WZDWG members on the latest developments of the three chartered Subgroups (Specification Update Subgroup, Worker Presence Subgroup, and the Technical Assistance Subgroup) and propose new subgroups for the next specification development cycle, as well as provide updates on the Work Zone Data Exchange (WZDx) Demonstration Grants. About the WZDWG

The Work Zone Data Working Group (WZDWG), established in 2019 under the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Transportation Subcommittee (TSC), maintains the WZDx Specification with the goal of publishing incremental updates to refine the features, attributes, and vocabulary needed to model work zone activity data. In Spring of 2021, the WZDWG released version 3.1 of the WZDx Specification based on the prioritized issues and new insights from the data producer and data consumer community. The past development cycle demarcated several milestones including the launch of two new additional WZDx Subgroups – the Smart Work Zone Device Data and Specification Extension Subgroups – who worked in tandem with the Specification Update, Technical Assistance, and Worker Presence Subgroups to advance WZDx goals.
