Thumbnails are not generated by default in Dolphin

I can use the CLI tool fine.

I attempted rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails and a reboot to no avail.

stl-thumb-kde is installed from AUR.

Dolphin does not work, but nemo seems to generate thumbnails fine.

Mime type for the files is application/octet-stream

Did you turn on STL thumbnails in Dolphin after the installation? In Dolphin go to Settings -> Configure Dolphin, select the Previews tab and check the box for "STL Files" - click apply and it should spring right into action.

I have not, and enabling it makes it work, thanks!

This extra step is not very user friendly, is it possible to have the previews generated by default instead?

It seems like it gets enabled by default in KDE 6. Can anyone else confirm?

I had to manually enable it in KDE6. Pointing this out in the README would be helpful.

I installed stl-thumbs and stl-thumb-kde in cachyos, but also after enabling STL in preview and reboot I have no thumbnails. Any idea? TY in advice

(I also tryed rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails)

Thanks! I tryed again with git version and preview now works. They are red to me also, like your screenshot.

If it helps i used "yay -S stl-thumb-git stl-thumb-kde", recompile everything, and remove old conflicts

hi,
it's a bit strange to me, dolphin doesn't show thumbnails but files showing it. i can't see stl option in previews section as well.
