Would also be neat to provide a JS workaround à la http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#support-ie10-width

Thinking about this again, I'm going to punt on it. It's not a Bootstrap problem, it's a font file problem as that issue states. This is quite different from the other support sections linked to above.

The issue is that a font-weight is not specified. Add that declaration (font-weight: 300) and this goes away. The default of 400 or 500 is kicking it to Helvetica Neue Bold and not Helvetica Neue Medium. Test it yourself and you'll see.
