I have a simple case - I want to exclude two folders, both at the root level. I have entered the names of these folders in the Excluded Folders section of the plugin settings (see screen shot). As you can see, I have not used any particular regex syntax - these are just simple names exactly as shown. I have double-checked for spelling/typos.

Despite this, if I click on one of these folders, a folder index file is automatically created.

I am using:

  • Obsidian 1.4.16 on a Mac
  • Version 1.0.21 of the Folder Index plugin

The Excludedfolder option currently just stops them from showing up in an index file, thanks for the report

I can confirm this is still happening. I have a doubt, if you include a folder name it will exclude all the folders with that name, including subfolders? I am using it mainly for attachments, included inside every folder with images, for example. Thanks!

This bug still creates an visible (file/folder view and graph view) index for excluded folder

I'm currently working on fixing this feature, but I also found a workaround for now:

If you include /foldername.md, it will work. For example, to exclude the top level folder media, add media/media.md to the excluded folders.

Thanks for the Info! :)

Tried this, but it didn't work.

I'd love a workaround where I could turn off automatic creation but hotkey in a TOC when I need it.

@SyndicatedPillbug As of 1.0.26 this is possible, simply rightclick on the folder where you want to create one and select the menu entry
