Looks like the FiraCode-VF.ttf font file thinks that the light weight is an alias to medium, all other named weights appear to work.

Steps to reproduce ( on Mac )

  1. Install the VT version of the font after deactivating all the other versions.
  2. Open Text Editor
  3. Pick font, weight shows as "Regular"
  4. Set weight to anything but "Light" and weight changes correctly.
  5. Set weight to "Light" and the weight changes to "Medium"

I also noticed that in font explorer the following properties appear:
Name: "Fire Code Light"
Family Name: "Fire Code"
Postscript Name: "FireCode-Light"
Style: "Regular"
Unique Name: "2.000;CTDB;FiraCode-Light"
Path: ...Bunch of directories.../FiraCode-VF.ttf

Try a variant from here? If it works I’ll close this as a duplicate

When I tried the FiraCodeGX.ttf from the other issue the "light" weight disappeared as an option.

This is with individual files:

This is what I see with the original FiraCode-VT.ttf file (not I just selected light here but it will go back to medium when I release):

This is what I see with only FiraCodeGX.ttf enabled as options:
