Introduced by upgrade to 1.11.58 (#909)

react-sdk has removed cypress completely, so the helpers we depend on have disappeared (matrix-react-sdk/cypress/support/client, matrix-react-sdk/cypress/support/bot, matrix-react-sdk/cypress/support/composer).

It was done in matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#12145. No documentation (in public docs) or PR descriptions. We don't know why.

Playwright seems to be used instead. It uses a different syntax so files need to be rewritten (but stay similar-looking overall).

We could

  • move to playwright
  • copy the deleted support files to our repo
  • stop using e2e tests altogether (if they take less time than they save)
