After logging in, you are asked for key to unlock your messages (secure backup).

"security phrase" should be hidden from tchap users. "Recovery key" should be used.

is this because i setup secure backup with a security phrase, in olden days when it was possible, so that security phrase appears first ?
Test with a clean account.

This only happens if the account has set up a security phrase. Tchap users do not have access to UI to set up security phrase. (if they do, it's because they meddled with element clients, it's their own problem :) )
So not an issue. Closing.
