Describe the bug
As a PO of a software team I would really, really prefer not to lose work on commentaries that I add to our team's user stories so that I do not get mad I can do my job better.

How can we reproduce the behavior

  1. Open any comment-able artefact – a user story, a task, etc.
  2. Add a comment, save it
  3. Edit that coment
  4. Before saving the comment press ESC
  5. Go cry in the corner.

Outcome: The edit is lost without any warning or confirmation whatsoever.

Desired outcome: A confirmation dialog („Are you sure about that??“) would be really nice. And/or not capturing ESC from Windows' Win + . emoji palette.

Note: This is very infuriating for me on Windows where I use the Windows + . key to add emojis to the commentary (e.g., ✔, ✖, 🐞 and others) because you have to press ESC to finish inputting emojis. And that esc, literally pressed in another window, closes the coment without a warning, erasing all of my work. I use this feature sub-consciously, so it often takes me a while to realize why I am staring at a previous version of the comment, with my work of past 10 minutes erased by my muscle memory. Quite painful.

Workarounds

  • Do not ever edit your comments
    • And risk losing them if you forget to save them when working on multiple stories during a groominmg session
  • Do not ever press ESC.
  • Suffer. I find myself stopping before pressing ESC on any page I work on – it is literally getting in my head now.

Screenshots

Not required IMO, I can of course provide.
