So I've explored a bunch of avenues for this, and it seems to be Slightly Painful:tm: no matter how we slice it:

• Nix
  • dream2nix
    • tries to collate all dependencies into one derivation, which runs out of disk space (somehow?)
    • API is very tied into flakes, even when using the compatibility layer
    • Only compatible with yarn and npm, not pnpm
  • js2nix
    • Only compatible with yarn v1.x (Syntax error on yarn.lock canva-public/js2nix#18 for 3.x compatibility)
    • Implicit checks are incompatible with ES Modules (Checks don't work for modules canva-public/js2nix#20)
  • pnpm2nix
    • Seems to be abandoned
• Docker
  • ubi8-rust-builder
    • Requires patching in docker-images, since we require additional packages (nodejs, go)
    • Only packages an ancient version of Node (10.x)
