Created directories owned by root

Running this script with sudo as the 'pi' user on Raspbian, I noticed that this setup leaves all the created directories owned by the root user, and PiMAME Game Uploader doesn't succeed in uploading games. Is this a permissions error? Should a final chown back to 'pi' be added at the end of the setup script (maybe only conditionally after checking for the existence of the pi user?)
