I am a MSc student located in Austria, however I am originally from Australia.

I have started a Rust crate called RustQuant which is a library for quantitative finance tools. There is a lack of Rust crates dedicated to this field when compared to the support in languages like C++, such as the well established QuantLib.

The goal of RustQuant is to increase the use of Rust in the quantitative finance industry overall, as it is a good language for tackling many problems there.

Any sponsorship money will go to getting more people involved in writing/contributing to the library. This could include things such as:

  • Direct payments to people for contributions to the library.
  • Website fees if enough interest is evident.
  • Education fees for courses (online or similar) if needed by contributors.
  • Simply paying for time spent contributing.
