I've tried setting launch or attach on task settings, passing it the (Rust, debug target, ARM64 for M1) executable or just nothing, it always says this. I tried running lldb in the terminal and it works.

I want to reiterate that this extension is pre-alpha software and is unstable.

That said, I'll definitely keep this issue in mind as I continue to develop the extension. Thank you for your bug report!
