The initial velocity model is vital to the FWI. Now how can I build the starting velocity model, which is HDF5 format? Many methods can be used to build the initial model in the literature, but I cannot find a tool to build initial model for JUDI.

Usually people use some data driven workflows to get initial models such as NMO velocity picking, JUDI is designed for FWI/RTM/... so it is up to the user to come with an initial model. I'll see if I can find some pointers.
Do you have any specific case study you are looking into?
I am a green hand at FWI and JUDI, but it's really good tool to explore the oil and gas. My plan is first to run JUDI tutorials, expecially 3D case. So my aim is to solve the real case problem in China Oil field. Thanks for your contribution of JUDI and the kindlyl reply. Because the geophysical interpretation and inversion are really complex chain operation, I have to carefully acquire the operation steps of JUDI and also the API.
