Heatit Z-Scene Controller - ZWave

Heatit Z-Scene Controller Push button 6-gang

This describes the Z-Wave device Heatit Z-Scene Controller, manufactured by Logic Group with the thing type UID of logic_scenecontroller_00_000.

The device is in the category of Wall Switch, defining Any device attached to the wall that controls a binary status of something, for ex. a light switch.

The Heatit Z-Scene Controller does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. Refer to the Wakeup Information section below for further information.

Overview

The Heatit Z-Wave Scene Controller is a Z-Wave module specifically adapted to Gira KNX touch sensors. The Heatit Z-Wave Scene Controller is a device with built-in wireless Z-Wave communication that may be used to control other Z-Wave devices such as dimmers, relay modules, etc.

The scene controller has a built-in relay that can be used to turn on and off a local load, e.g. a lamp, thus replacing a standard 1-pole switch.

Inclusion Information

Pushing the upper left button 3 times (triple click) will activate Inclusion Mode on the device. It is also possible to activate Inclusion Mode by triple clicking the switch inside the module (through a little hole in the front of the module).

Exclusion Information

The inclusion and exclusion of the device is confirmed by sending out a Node Information Frame. Beside this, it may be necessary for certain network operations to send out a Node Information Frame. Triple clicking the button inside the module through a little hole (normally covered by GIRA module) or the upper left button will issue a Node Information Frame.

Wakeup Information

The Heatit Z-Scene Controller does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. The wakeup period can be configured in the user interface - it is advisable not to make this too short as it will impact battery life - a reasonable compromise is 1 hour.

The wakeup period does not impact the devices ability to report events or sensor data. The device can be manually woken with a button press on the device as described below - note that triggering a device to send an event is not the same as a wakeup notification, and this will not allow the controller to communicate with the device.

Switch

Switch the power on and off.

The switch_binary channel is of type switch_binary and supports the Switch item and is in the Switch category.

Dimmer

The brightness channel allows to control the brightness of a light. It is also possible to switch the light on and off.

The switch_dimmer channel is of type switch_dimmer and supports the Dimmer item and is in the DimmableLight category.

Scene Number

Triggers when a scene button is pressed.

The scene_number channel is of type scene_number and supports the Number item. This channel provides the scene, and the event as a decimal value in the form <scene>.<event>. The scene number is set by the device, and the event is as follows -:

LCD Backlight (Level)

Sets the indicator brightness.

The indicator_level channel is of type indicator_level and supports the Dimmer item.

Sets the indicator On/Off period.

The indicator_period channel is of type indicator_period and supports the Number item.

LCD Backlight (Flash)

Sets the number of indicator flash cycles.

The indicator_flash channel is of type indicator_flash and supports the Number item.

Parameter 1: Upper paddle buttons mode

Parameter 10: Relay mode

This parameter configures the built-in relay 0 Relay is disabled.

1 Relay is controlled by button #1 or by upper paddle when pair mode is active. (Default)

2 Relay is controlled by button #2 or by upper paddle when pair mode is active.

3 Relay is controlled by button #3 or by middle paddle when pair mode is active.

4 Relay is controlled by button #4 or by middle paddle when pair mode is active.

5 Relay is controlled by button #5 or by lower paddle when pair mode is active.

6 Relay is controlled by button #6 or by lower paddle when pair mode is active.

7 Relay is activated for one second and is controlled by button #1 or by upper paddle when pair mode is active. The following option values may be configured -:

Disables or enables the sending of Central Scene notifications 0 Central Scene notifications are enabled. (Default)

Parameter 12: Disable House Cleaning Mode

Disable House Cleaning Mode, double press = 100% light 0 House Cleaning Mode is enabled (Default)

1 House Cleaning Mode is disabled; double-press button scene notifications will be disabled too. The following option values may be configured -:

Parameter 13: Multilevel Switch for button #1

Configuration of the Multilevel Switch Byte 1: Enable / Disable

0 Disabled – When single pressing the button, nodes associated to group 6 won’t be switched.

1 Enabled – When single pressing the button, nodes associated to group 6 will be switched between the configured upper and lower switch values. (Default) The following option values may be configured -:

Parameter 13: Multilevel Switch for button #1

Configuration of the Multilevel Switch Byte 2: Upper switch value

0 – 99, 255 When single pressing the button for ON, a Multilevel Switch Set with this value will be send to devices in association group 6. (Default = 255) The following option values may be configured, in addition to values in the range 0 to 99 -:

Parameter 13: Lower switch value

Configuration of the Multilevel Switch Byte 3: Lower switch value

0 - 99 When single pressing the button for OFF, a Multilevel Switch Set with this value will be send to devices in association group 6. (Default = 0) The following option values may be configured, in addition to values in the range 0 to 99 -:

Parameter 13: Multilevel Switch for button #1

Configuration of the Multilevel Switch Byte 4: Not used – must be set to 0. Values in the range 0 to 0 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 0.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_13_4_01000000 and is of type INTEGER. This is a read only parameter.

Parameter 14: Multilevel Switch for button #2

Configuration of backlight control. 0 Backlight is only controlled by Indicator Command Class – commands send to endpoint 0.

Parameter 26: Basic Set for endpoint 0

Enable or disable that Basic Set commands to the root device Enable or disable that Basic Set commands to the root device will be able to control the backlight.

Value Description

0 Basic Set commands to endpoint 0 is forwarded to endpoint 1 (Default).

1 Basic Set commands to endpoint 0 controls backlight (on/off). The following option values may be configured -:

Association Groups

Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.

The Heatit Z-Scene Controller supports 31 association groups.

Group 1: Lifeline

The Lifeline association group reports device status to a hub and is not designed to control other devices directly. When using the Lineline group with a hub, in most cases, only the lifeline group will need to be configured and normally the hub will perform this automatically during the device initialisation.

Association group 1 supports 5 nodes.
