MT02648 Door/Window Contact

This describes the Z-Wave device MT02648, manufactured by Devolo with the thing type UID of devolo_mt02648_00_000.

The device is in the category of Door, defining Door sensors.

The MT02648 supports routing. This allows the device to communicate using other routing enabled devices as intermediate routers. This device is unable to participate in the routing of data from other devices.

The MT02648 does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. Refer to the Wakeup Information section below for further information.

Overview

The Door/Window Contact and the Motion Detector have two additional functions integrated: temperature and illumination measurement, based on Z-WaveTM technology.

Inclusion Information

  1. Have Z-WaveTM Controller entered inclusion mode.
  2. Pressing tamper key three times within 1.5 seconds to enter the inclusion mode.
  3. After inclusion successful, the device will wake to receive the setting command from Z-WaveTM Controller about 20 seconds.

Exclusion Information

  1. Have Z-WaveTM Controller entered exclusion mode.
  2. Pressing tamper key three times within 1.5 seconds to enter the exclusion mode.
    Node ID has been excluded.

Reset:
Notice: Use this procedure only in the event that the primary controller is lost or otherwise inoperable.

  1. Pressing tamper key four times within 1.5 seconds and do not release the tamper key in the 4th pressed, and the LED will light ON.
  2. After 3 seconds the LED will turn OFF, after that within 2 seconds, release the tamper key. If successful, the LED will light ON one second. Otherwise, the LED will flash once.
  3. IDs are excluded and all settings will reset to factory default.

Wakeup Information

The MT02648 does not permanently listen for messages sent from the controller - it will periodically wake up automatically to check if the controller has messages to send, but will sleep most of the time to conserve battery life. The wakeup period can be configured in the user interface - it is advisable not to make this too short as it will impact battery life - a reasonable compromise is 1 hour.

The wakeup period does not impact the devices ability to report events or sensor data. The device can be manually woken with a button press on the device as described below - note that triggering a device to send an event is not the same as a wakeup notification, and this will not allow the controller to communicate with the device.

To wake-up the device immediately, please remove the front cover, and press the tamper key once. The device will wake-up 10 seconds

Sensor (temperature)

Indicates the current temperature.

The sensor_temperature channel is of type sensor_temperature and supports the Number:Temperature item and is in the Temperature category.

Sensor (luminance)

Indicates the current light reading.

The sensor_luminance channel is of type sensor_luminance and supports the Number item. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device.

Tamper Alarm

Indicates if the tamper alarm is triggered.

The alarm_tamper channel is of type alarm_tamper and supports the Switch item. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device.

The following state translation is provided for this channel to the Switch item type -:

The sensor_door channel is of type sensor_door and supports the Contact item and is in the Door category. This is a read only channel so will only be updated following state changes from the device.

Battery Level

Represents the battery level as a percentage (0-100%). Bindings for things supporting battery level in a different format (e.g. 4 levels) should convert to a percentage to provide a consistent battery level reading.

The system.battery-level channel is of type system.battery-level and supports the Number item and is in the Battery category. This channel provides the battery level as a percentage and also reflects the low battery warning state. If the battery state is in low battery warning state, this will read 0%.

The following table provides a summary of the 15 configuration parameters available in the MT02648. Detailed information on each parameter can be found in the sections below.

Parameter 2: Basic Set Level

Setting the BASIC command value to turn on the light. The 0xFF(-1) means turn on the light. For dimmer equipment 1 to 100 means the light strength. 0 means turn off the light. Values in the range -1 to 100 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is -1.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_2_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 3: PIR Sensitivity

PIR sensitivity settings. 0 means disable the PIR motion. 1 means the lowest sensitivity, 99 means the highest sensitivity. High sensitivity means can detected long distance, but if there is more noise signal in the environment, it will re-trigger too frequency.  The following option values may be configured -:

The manufacturer defined default value is 70.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_3_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 4: Light Threshold

Setting the illumination threshold to turn on the light When the event triggered and the environment illumination lower then the threshold, the device will turn on the light. 0 means turn off illumination detected function. And never turn on the light. 1 means darkest. 99 means brightest.100 means turn off illumination detected function. And always turn on the light.

Notice: In none test mode, only the value in 1 to 99 will enable the illumination detected function and update the illumination value.  The following option values may be configured -:

The manufacturer defined default value is 100 (Disable (Light ON)).

This parameter has the configuration ID config_4_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 5: Operation Mode

Parameter to set the Operation Mode Bit0: Reserve.

Bit1: 1 means enable test mode, 0 means disable normal mode. (Notice: This bit only effect by the DIP Switch setting to program mode.) 

Bit2: Disable the door/window function.

Bit3: Setting the temperature scale. 0: Fahrenheit, 1:Celsius

Bit4: Disable the illumination report after event triggered.

Bit5: Disable the temperature report after event triggered.

Bit6: Reserve.

Bit7: Disable the back key release into test mode. The following option values may be configured -:

10 Preset: Celsius and LED on = Bits: 00001010 = 10

The manufacturer defined default value is 0.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_5_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 6: Multi-Sensor Function Switch

Parameter to set the sensor functions Bit0: Disable magnetic integrate illumination.

Bit1: Disable PIR integrate Illumination.

Bit2: Disable magnetic integrate PIR (Default is Disable)

Bit3: When Bit2 is 0 (Enable), Are the device and the lighting in the same room? 0: In the same room(Default), 1: In the different room.

Notice: If this bit is 1, it is recommended also set the Bit1 to 1, cause the PIR triggered, doesn't mean the people in that room.

Bit4: Disable delay 5 seconds to turn off the light, when door/window closed.

Bit5: Disable auto turn off the light, after door/window opened to turn on the light.

Notice: If bit2 is zero, this setting is useless. Notice: If the configuration No.9 is zero, this setting is useless.

Bit6: Reserve.

Bit7: Reserve. Values in the range 0 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 4.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_6_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 7: Customer Function

Parameter to set the Customer Function Bit0: Reserve.

Bit1: Enable sending motion OFF report.

Note: Depends on the Bit4, 0: Report Notification CC, Type: 0x07, Event: 0xFE 1: Sensor Binary Report, Type: 0x0C, Value: 0x00

Bit2: Enable PIR super sensitivity mode.

Bit3: Enable don't send out BASIC OFF after door closed.

Bit4: Notification Type, 0: Using Notification Report. 1: Using Sensor Binary Report.

Bit5: Disable Multi CC in auto report.

Bit6: Disable to report battery state when the device triggered.

Bit7: Reserve. The following option values may be configured -:

This parameter has the configuration ID config_7_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 8: PIR Re-Detect Interval Time

Parameter to set the PIR Re-Detect Interval Time In the normal mode, after the PIR motion detected, setting the re-detect time. 8 seconds per tick, default tick is 3 (24 seconds).

Setting the suitable value to prevent received the trigger signal too frequency. Also can save the battery energy.

Notice: If this value bigger than the configuration setting NO. 9. There is a period after the light turned off and the PIR not start detecting. Values in the range 1 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 3.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_8_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 9: Turn Off Light Time

Parameter to set the Turn Off Light Time After turn on the lighting, setting the delay time to turn off the lighting when the PIR motion is not detected. 8 seconds per tick, default tick is 4 (32 seconds). 0 means never send turn off light command. Values in the range 0 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 4.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_9_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 10: Auto Report Battery Time

Parameter to set the Auto Report Battery Time The interval time for auto report the battery level. 0 means turn off auto report battery. The default value is 12. The tick time can setting by the configuration No.20. Values in the range 0 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 12.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_10_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 11: Auto Report Door/Window State Time

The interval time for auto reporting the door/window state The interval time for auto report the door/window state. 0 means turn off auto report door/window state. The default value is 12. The tick time can setting by the configuration No.20. Values in the range 0 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 12.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_11_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 12: Auto Report Illumination Time

The Interval time for auto reporting the illumination state The interval time for auto report the illumination. 0 means turn off auto report illumination. The default value is 12. The tick time can setting by the configuration No.20. Values in the range 1 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 12.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_12_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 13: Auto Report Temperature Time

The interval time for auto reporting the temperature state The interval time for auto report the temperature. 0 means turn off auto report temperature. The default value is 12. The tick time can setting by the configuration No.20. Values in the range 1 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 12.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_13_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 20: Auto Report Tick Interval

The interval time for each auto report tick The interval time for auto report each tick. Setting this configuration will effect configuration No.10, No.11, No.12 and No.13. Caution: Setting to 0 means turn off all auto report function. Values in the range 0 to 255 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 30.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_20_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 21: Temperature Differential Report

The temperature differential to report The temperature differential to report. 0 means turn off this function. The unit is Fahrenheit. Enable this function the device will detect every minutes. And when the temperature is over 140 degree Fahrenheit, it will continue report. Enable this functionality will cause some issue please see the detail in the “Temperature Report” section. Values in the range 0 to 127 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 1.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_21_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Parameter 22: Illumination Differential Report

The illumination differential to report The illumination differential to report. 0 means turn off this function. The unit is percentage. Enable this function the device will detect every minutes. Enable this functionality will cause some issue please see the detail in the “Illumination Report” section. Values in the range 0 to 99 may be set.

The manufacturer defined default value is 1.

This parameter has the configuration ID config_22_1 and is of type INTEGER.

Wakeup Interval

The wakeup interval sets the period at which the device will listen for messages from the controller. This is required for battery devices that sleep most of the time in order to conserve battery life. The device will wake up at this interval and send a message to the controller to tell it that it can accept messages - after a few seconds, it will go back to sleep if there is no further communications.

This setting is defined in seconds. It is advisable not to set this interval too short or it could impact battery life. A period of 1 hour (3600 seconds) is suitable in most instances.

Note that this setting does not affect the devices ability to send sensor data, or notification events.

This parameter has the configuration ID wakeup_interval and is of type INTEGER.

Wakeup Node

When sleeping devices wake up, they send a notification to a listening device. Normally, this device is the network controller, and normally the controller will set this automatically to its own address. In the event that the network contains multiple controllers, it may be necessary to configure this to a node that is not the main controller. This is an advanced setting and should not be changed without a full understanding of the impact.

This parameter has the configuration ID wakeup_node and is of type INTEGER.

Association Groups

Association groups allow the device to send unsolicited reports to the controller, or other devices in the network. Using association groups can allow you to eliminate polling, providing instant feedback of a device state change without unnecessary network traffic.

The MT02648 supports 2 association groups.

Group 1: Reports

Association group 1 supports 8 nodes.

Group 2: Light Control

Association group 2 supports 8 nodes.
