Using a supported version?

  • I have searched searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
  • I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

Signal provides the ability to set a "note" alongside a user's nickname under "Chat Settings".
Using signal desktop to modify the user chat->chat settings->nickname->note works.
Using signal desktop to clear/blank a user chat nickname note does not work.

Steps to reproduce

  1. On signal Android, for a given user, set Chat Settings->Nickname->Note to "This is a note."
  2. On signal desktop, go to Chat Settings->nickname->note for that user and delete the note and hit Save.
  3. Immediately reopen nickname dialog and notice that note is blank.
  4. A moment later, reopen the nickname dialog and notice that the original "This is a note." has returned. Bug.
  5. Aside: After erasing the note on Signal-Android, I observe the blanked note correctly propagates to the corresponding Chat Settings->Nickname on Signal Desktop.

Expected result

Upon blanking the note for a user on Signal Desktop, the note should appear blanked on all linked devices.

Actual result

Upon blanking the note for a user on Signal Desktop, the change does not appear on Signal Android, and the original note then immediately reappears on Signal Desktop.
