Bug Description

A few versions ago the application icon changed. It is now this:

When the icon changed I immediately thought that this visual appearance was the result of a broken image/ICO file. Two of my friends contacted me about the weird looking icon without me mentioning it.

So at this point I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug. If it's not intentional I would submit that it does not look very good.

It looks pixellated (even when not magnified), not round and it's unclear what it's supposed to depict. The usual Signal optics cannot be made out.

Yup this is intentional, the logo doesn't downsize as well as the old one unfortunately. Thank you for your feedback we're thinking of ways to display the logo in a suitable manner for both small and large sizes.

@sunknudsen I just looked through our design assets and couldn't find the SVG you're talking about. Why do you need it? Are you going to try to address this issue?

@EvanHahn-Signal I am a privacy and security researcher and YouTuber.

I create content on Signal (and give talks) once in a while and I am a little (OK... perhaps bat shit crazy) about using vector assets vs bitmap to make sure logos look their best.

I haven't been able to find a vector version of the app icon.

@sunknudsen Makes sense. I don't think we have SVG versions of these (at least, not that I can find) but I'll let you know if that's wrong.
