Currently, this repository depends on the 2-year old version of shower-core and themes. I tried to update to the latest versions, but it looks like now it is not possible to use core packages as git submodules.
Is there any chance to make it working? I really like the simplicity of this project (fork, edit, push and you will have deployed your presentation). Or maybe you have another recommended way instead?

@just-boris, there’s a simple fork-edit-push workflow, see advanced section in shower/shower readme. But Jekyller is effectively dead now, maybe we should put a disclamer at the top of the readme. I think it’s your right to freeze it @kizu.
@pepelsbey thank you for pointing on this instruction. That looks like a good solution for modern world where everything needs preprocessing before publish.
But still I like that simplicity that Jekyll gives. You need just push your code and it will be processed and available online. Fortunately, Jekyll supports SASS-compilation, so if it is the only build step, it is possible to do with basic Jekyll (which is used on Github Pages).
@geraldb thank you for solution too. It is also worth seeing.
