Dravidian languages (Tam, Kan, Tel, Mal) have small e & o, while Indo-Aryan ( Dev and related) did not have them.

Unicode has introduced glyphs for small e & o in Dev and many other scripts/languages.

ITRANS is also updated with these vowels.

Sansscript lacks input for these vowels, which need to be updated.

It is suggested that the input ITRANS is split into 2:

  1. ITRANS-5.3 including coding for e, E, o & O for Dravidian languages and ^e, e, ^o & o for Indo-Arian (Dev) languages - same as what is coded in ITRANS 5.3. Currently its [none].
  2. ITRANS-ISO that uses the unified ISO15919 coding as represented by ITRANS-ISO coding.
