It's been somewhat annoying to have to manually hunt through the JS backend to mostly guess if garbage collection will work the way we intend.

It would be nice to be able to test garbage collection directly, and @sffc mentioned that Node has some options to allow for manual garbage collection, so as a nice wishlist item I think it'd be good to see what's possible in testing Javascript garbage collection.
