Convert nominal values using GDP, CPI, PPP etc to real terms ...

We have inflation stuff on http://data.okfn.org etc ...

Implementation

  • Simple use case written up
    • how much today
    • openspending
    • convert some standard time series
  • Acquire and clean data (would be nice to be on data.okfn.org)
  • Define API
  • Implement

@rgrp, sorry for not looking at this ticket until now

OpenSpending uses economics, a python package that can inflate/deflate based on datapackages (only CPI at the moment) on data.okfn.org

@tryggvib whoa this is really cool. Why have I not seen a Labs blog post on this yet ;)

@pudo you're kind of like the father of this ;) you suggested a package like that one in a comment (although I was not able to see the suggestion you made at the wiki).

...and yeah... I haven't written a Labs blog post, so that's probably the reason ;)

@tryggvib seconding @pudo :-) this is awesome (and I didn't know about it!). Would you be up for writing a short blog post http://okfnlabs.org/blog/add/ :-)?
