Is this a feature you want frequently? You can update multiple gems by running bundle update gem1 gem2. I'm happy to accept this patch if this provides a useful feature, but I'm a bit hesitant since I haven't seen a lot of people ask for it in the past.

Thank you for your pull request! It seems like this is not commonly needed. I'm happy to revisit if people are interested, but I would like to avoid adding code just for an uncommon usecase when a workaround is pretty easy.

Due to the outpouring of support in favor of this feature, I've changed my mind, and I'll merge it as soon as I get the chance. Thanks again for the patch!
