What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. bought a 2nd hand Nexus S
2. logged on with the same Gmail account
3. in Accounts & sync settings, Sync the Gmail account (the 4 default apps
included in the sync are: Books, Contacts, Gmail, Calendar)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I wished to see my Secrets data got sync'ed from the Google Server. But, after
I used the same master password with Secrets, there is nothing get sync'ed.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Secrets 2.0.6, on Android 2.3.6
Please provide any additional information below.
I remember you said in previous posts that the Secrets data would be sync'ed
with the Auto-Sync routine with the Google server. So, I expected my Secrets
data would be downloaded onto my 2nd Nexus S during a manually initiated
re-sync. I can see my contacts and calendar events, but not the Secrets data.
Should I wait for a few more days for the Secrets data to show up? I didn't
lose anything, as I haven't erased my 1st Nexus S. So, I'm not panic. Thanks,
Roger. [email protected]

Hi Jeffrey,
Did the app itself get auto-installed? That is, is the app present but the
data missing? Or are both the app and the data missing?
If you go to "Settings / Accounts and Sync" on your *old* phone, do you have
both "Background data" and "Auto-sync" enabled? If not, you should enable both
on both phones.
You can also login to your dashboard at http://www.google.com/dashboard and
check to see what phone data is sync'ed to your online account. Find your
device under "Android devices", then click the link called "More data stored
about this device". In the list you should see "Secrets for Android" and the
time at which the last sync occurred. If you don't see a secrets item then the
data was not sync'ed from your old phone. If you enabled any of the options
above, try waiting a day or so to see if the data syncs.
Thank you for your reply, Roger.
I do see 14KB of backup from my old phone on Google Dashboard. That's a relieve.
Regarding the newer phone, I went straight to Market, downloaded and installed
all of my usual apps, because I did not see my existing apps listed in Market.
After I downloaded and installed Secrets, I clicked on Restore and Import
multiple times, and I could not provide the source file for it to restore from.
That's why I wrote you the note.
On Google Dashboard, I do see a backup from Secrets for the newer phone. But,
it's just 102B. I guess it must be sync'ing the empty database.
However, I think we cannot proceed with the tests any further. It's because I
already returned the phone back to the eBay seller, as the phone cannot be
charged.
Thank you for introducing the Google Dashboard to me. I like it.
I found there is a very interesting thing to me. I like the fact that the IMEI
of the phones are recorded. This would be a wonderful piece of data to help
tracking and recovering stolen phones. Perhaps, somebody can write a "GM
OnStar" kind of program to remotely turn on the GPS with a given IMEI, of
course, with the presence of a search warrant. :-)
