Multi-disc albums in library view shows as separate folders

Multi-disc albums where shown as single item in library view in Album Artist or Artist when it opens list of albums. It was a single album title with the album icon next to it. However, after some recent release it changed such that it is now list of folders: folder icon, Album title and then path. Also, multi-disc album if it is stored in separate folders will be listed twice. Before it used to be combined under single album.
I am wondering if this is an intended change and if it is going to stay this way from now on.
